David Gates是Bread(麵包合唱團)的主唱，該樂團在1977年解散，之後David Gates發展個人單飛生涯，其中2位團員也跟著他，所以就以David Gates & Bread的名義發表唱片，Goodbye Girl是同名電影的主題曲，也是David Gates單飛後最成功的單曲。
