静止的廢墟 與在【這聲音的壓抑】之中

在不安的夢境裡 我 行走在孤單的

narrow streets of cobblestone.

狹窄街道的鵝卵石 (鋪設而成的路)之中

Beneath the halo of a street lamp

在這暈暗的一盞街燈之下

I turned my collar to the cold and damp

我翻轉起我的領口 對著這寒意和沮喪

when my eyes were stabbed

在那時 我的雙眼是刺痛的

by the flash of a neon light

因這閃光來自一盞霓虹光纖

that split the night

那樣的分裂了這暗夜(使得夜晚也亮了起來)

and touched the sound of silence.

而且異常的這聲音 屬於壓抑的



And in the naked light I saw

並且在這赤裸裸的光纖下 我看到...

ten thousand people, maybe more.

上萬的群眾~ 也許更多...

People talking without speaking,

人們有交談 卻沒有話聊

people hearing without

 listening.

人們有聽覺 卻沒有傾聽

People writing songs

人們述寫著歌曲

that voices never share.

那樣的歌聲 永遠無法分享

And no one dare

而且 沒 一個人膽敢......

disturb the sound of silence

打破這聲音的沉默



Fools, said I, you do not know?!

無知的人們~我說：你們當真不知道嗎?!

silence like a cancer grows.

沉默如同一種癌症般 漸漸成長!



Hear my words that I might teach you,

聆聽我的話語 那我的能力可以教導你

take my arms that I might reach you.

得到我的擁抱 那我的能力可以感化你

But my words like silent raindrops fell,

然而 我的話語 如同沉默的雨滴般降臨~

and echoed in the【 wells of silence】.

和回響在這【泉水的寂靜】之中......



◎：well = 1.人名=威爾斯 2.水井

wells = 1.泉水

 2.噴泉

因為在國外的公園或廣場之中~都有水池或噴泉！

所以歌詞中~才會以壞掉的噴泉池~做如此形容！



And the people bowed and prayed

以及 這些人們彎曲(腰部)和懇求(祈禱)

to the neon god they made.

對著這些霓虹神像 他們製造的(諷刺著對神像膜拜)

And the sign flashed out it's warning

而這些招牌 閃現著 發出它的告誡

in the words that it was forming.

在這些字句裡 只因它是印刷面版(諷刺著聖言在廣告看板)



And the signs said:

那麼 這牌告上說明：

「the words of the prophets

這些字句 來自於這些先知者(預言家)

are written on the subway walls

是書寫成文字的 在這地下鐵的牆壁

and tenement halls

和建築物走廊上......



and whispered in the 【sound of silence】.

而且 喃喃自語 在這【 沉 默 之 聲 】中..
